Freak Pointing are a Dublin-based rock band formed in 2020, combining influences from hard rock, grunge, heavy metal, and folk into a fresh, distinctive sound, identifiable by vocal hooks, candid lyrics, and tastefully distorted guitars. What began as a covers project quickly morphed into a more creative endeavour, with original songs like live favourite “Stuck” and early Bandcamp release “Joke” signifying the band's shift toward sharp, catchy originals.
After several personnel changes, the band cemented their sound with a steady line-up in late 2023. From April 2024, the band began playing regular live shows, comprised mainly of original material. In early 2025, “Stuck” and “Vainglorious” were released on streaming platforms, with the recording session for “Vainglorious” being filmed for an eventual promotional video.
The band went on to record four tracks at Mobius Studios, Bray, in October 2025, forming the basis of the “Too Tall To See The Moon” EP. Now having received radio play in Ireland and the US, Freak Pointing continue to hone their craft on live stages, and are currently scheduling a further recording session for Summer 2026.
From Dublin stages to wherever the next one takes them, raw energy and tight performances stick with you long after the last chord fades.
